"Menopause-Friendly Employer" Certification
A clear, five-pillar standard that turns good intentions into a visible, verifiable, annually-renewed commitment — modelled on the UK's accreditation rigour, built for the Romanian market. Group DEI/ESG teams get a reportable artefact; local teams get real support.
The self-assessment tool is in Romanian — your local HR team completes it in ~10 minutes. The full standard in English is here.
Five pillars, scored annually
| Pillar | What "certified" means |
|---|---|
| 1. Culture | The topic can be raised openly; leadership has communicated commitment; at least one awareness session per year. |
| 2. Policy & practices | A written policy (or dedicated wellbeing-policy section) known to employees, with concrete adjustments: flexibility, breaks, no-penalty medical appointments. |
| 3. Training | Managers trained on what menopause is, how it affects work, and which adjustments they can offer without bureaucracy. |
| 4. Engagement | A safe route to ask for support (named contact, confidential channel), and employee feedback measured via the annual anonymous pulse survey. |
| 5. Working environment | Reasonable physical adjustments: temperature control, water access, adapted uniforms where relevant, quiet spaces. |
Scoring & renewal
Each pillar contains criteria scored 0–2 (absent / partial / implemented). Certification requires a total score of ≥70% with no pillar below 50%. It is valid 12 months and renewed with a re-survey, refresher session and benchmark report — a standard you keep, not a logo you buy once.
What the company receives
- Official badge for careers pages, email signatures, ESG/DEI reporting
- Named certificate with validity year
- Annual benchmark report vs. the Romanian market
- Public listing in the certified-employers register
- Internal & external communications kit
How it maps to UK frameworks
The five pillars are mapped criterion-by-criterion to BS 30416:2023 — the British Standard on menstruation and menopause in the workplace — and to the assessment areas used by the UK's Menopause Friendly accreditation, so a certified Romanian site reports upward in language your group's DEI and ESG teams already recognise. The mapping is included in the full English certification standard.
Assessment only, without consultancy
Prefer an independent check? The standalone certification assessment (≈ €1,200–1,800 / RON 6,000–9,000) verifies the five pillars against documented evidence. Assessment and alignment consultancy are always sold separately — an impartiality signal your procurement team will appreciate.
Founding cohort open
The first ten certified companies become founding case studies of the standard, featured in the annual public "Menopause at Work in Romania" Index launch.
